Brian White, Member, was born and raised in Farmington, and has lived in San Juan County most of his life. He has worked over 40 years as an architectural draftsman, and has a wife Tina, and two great kids. Free time will find him either at the family farm, hiking in the hills with his dogs or rebuilding his vintage dune buggy. A lover of live music, his family loves attending music festivals.
His Great grandfather Asa Martin came to San Juan County in 1905, first settling in the “Peninsula” area of Farmington, later landing on 160 acres east of Bloomfield by the “S” curves near Angustura. This farm produced pinto beans, broom corn (and had a broom making business), hay & vegetables.
In 1929, Brians’ grandfather, Don Martin, bought 40 acres adjacent to Asa’s place where he grew hay and fruit. Dons’ peaches and apples were known as some of the best in the valley, and the legacy of the farm is what has inspired Brian to be involved with the Historical Society.
Brian inherited a portion of this property and is still farming it, growing hay, vegetables and has experimented with hops.
