Connie Nordstrom, Member, is a child of Indiana, grew up in Albuquerque where she became a New Mexico girl and eventually found her home in Farmington. She is a passionate-quilt maker and quilt historian as well as a San Juan County historian and author. For her first book, And She Made Quilts, she interviewed 24 families whose pioneering ancestors, mothers, grandmothers and aunts, helped settle the county and amazingly found time to make quilts during those hard times. Her love of San Juan County began and 2 books for the San Juan County Historical Society followed - Greenlawn, A History of Farmington’s Pioneer Cemetery and I Remember Farmington, New Mexico Before the Boom. She wrote a biography of her husband Dr. Frank Nordstrom, who came to Farmington during the gas and oil boom in 1954 and became the first pediatrician in the area; a new kind of pioneer. She continues to share her love of San Juan County wherever she can, in conversation and lectures. Her heart lies in Farmington and the surrounding high desert country.
